The company are seeking to strengthen their UK Life Actuarial & Insurance Management Solutions (AIMS) practice, by recruiting experienced actuaries at Senior Manager grade.
The UK Life practice currently consists of circa 80 actuaries and actuarial trainees, approximately half of whom are qualified. The AIMS Life team works in a friendly, positive and vibrant atmosphere, where people are encouraged and supported to take responsibility at an early stage.
PwC look to develop accomplished all-round consultants, not just technically strong actuaries. This means exposure to a wide range of clients and project situations, including working closely with other professionals from outside the actuarial arena, as well as opportunities for secondments in the UK and overseas.

Typical Accountabilities
* Apply actuarial skills and experience to a variety of assignments, maintaining the highest quality of professional advice at all times in order to maintain and enhance the firm's standing and market reputation.
* Successfully lead or manage and deliver a wide range of concurrent actuarial and multidisciplinary assignments, including acting as the client’s main point of day-to-day contact on assignments.
* Effectively manage staff (depending on level), in order to ensure the highest quality and timely quality delivery of assignments.
* Develop new and existing client relationships, in order to understand client needs and generate further work opportunities. Be actively involved in the development of new work opportunities from both new and existing clients, including playing a pivotal role in client pitches and proposals.
* Lead or contribute to the development of new consulting product opportunities.
* Lead or contribute to the development and distribution of information or training programmes that enhance the department’s understanding of key issues.
* Share in the strategic management and running of the practice.
* Actively raise personal profile internally and externally, and at the same time enhance the Firm’s reputation
* There are a variety of different day-to-day management and development opportunities, for example providing counselling and development support to a team of qualified actuaries and actuarial students.
Requirements
The successful candidate will:
* Have spent most of their career to date in the life insurance market, either within a company or a consultancy.
* Have a wider commercial awareness, including the understanding of wider business issues.
* Experience in financial reporting, corporate finance, market consistent techniques & financial modelling, ICAs, or risk management particularly welcome.
Personal Qualities:
* Have strong oral, listening and written communication skills.
* Have strong people management, client handling and development skills, including inter-personal sensitivity and influencing skills.
* Have demonstrated an aptitude to develop good client/internal client handling skills, including relationship-building skills that lead to increased consulting opportunities.
* Have strong project and financial management skills. The ability to deliver to budget and within timescales is an important skill. We are looking for people with a flexible attitude and the ability to multi-task effectively. Have strong technical, problem identification and analytical skills, most likely with at least one specialist area of experience.
* Be commercial, with the ability and experience of working within a broader insurance environment, and with vision as to developments at our clients and opportunities for consulting business.
* Be strongly committed to both personal and corporate success.
Be self-motivated, in particular taking responsibility for personal development in technical and broader consulting skills.
