If you’re an ambitious, driven mechanical engineering graduate looking to build a future in the energy sector, this is the role for you. As a large coal-fired power station in the UK, the growing and changing rapidly, adding to the company’s share of the energy market and reducing our environmental impact. One of the key focuses is a steam turbine modernisation project – the largest of its kind in the UK. The company are investing heavily in this area, developing new practices, sharing expertise and improving our processes. And you’ll experience all this change at first hand. You could come to the company with some experience of power station plant maintenance. However it’s more likely that you’ve an engineering qualification at HNC or higher, strong communication and analytical skills, a commercial approach and the desire to make a quick impression. There will certainly be plenty of opportunity to do just that. Working alongside the Operation and Maintenance teams, you’ll build the skills and expertise that will help you develop into a fully-fledged Turbine Engineer. As such, you’ll then take responsibility for the engineering aspects of the Turbine and Turbine auxiliary plant areas. This will involve managing budgets, helping to develop best practice and ensuring the safety and operational elements of projects. When you join the company don’t expect you to be the finished article. They will give you all the support and professional development you need, but you’ll need a platform to build from. That’s why it’s important you demonstrate a clear, problem-solving approach and a commercial focus.
