Description |
Responsible, through others, for ensuring that the facility’s product/s are supplied to meet the customers’ requirements in accordance with contractual, environmental and operational needs.
Implementing the safety rules for all internal and external operational, maintenance and project management tasks and may be asked to provide technical input to contract setting.
Providing visible and active direction and leadership of team through planning and prioritisation of resource and workload, managing and developing competence of the operations team and promoting, managing and implementing an excellent Health, Safety and Environmental culture.
Liaising with our internal and external partners to agree day to day and long term production requirements. Identify key plant issues to be improved and/or resolved through technical or operational improvements.
Key Activities
- Implementing improvements to all areas of plant performance with regards to Health & Safety, Environmental, Commercial, Performance, Availability and Reliability.
- Liaising with Energy Trading, Shift Team and Maintenance Team to agree day to day priorities.
- Providing effective incident management through an appropriately formed team and emergency plan.
- Ensuring up to date operational communication and record keeping is maintained at all times.
- Providing Leadership and Management of the implementation of on site Health, Safety and Enviromental systems.
- 60% of the role includes re-acting to day to day plant events, which impact on the availability of the plant within the site. Most activities/issues encountered are within general set precedents or where knowledge/outcomes previously acquired can be logically applied, adapted or obtained. 40% of the role is pro-active, where the role holder must use initiative to resolve technical difficulties.
Main responsibilities of role
- Ensuring that team business, activity and training plans are developed and delivered.
- Effectively prioritising workload and resource.
- Managing and developing the competence of the shift team.
- Performance management of the shift team and team leaders.
- Supporting the maintenance team in their planned and reactive activities.
- Undertaking the role of SAP and other safety rule authorisations as appropriate.
- Actively manage the forward planning & information collection of data for operational reporting and performance.
- Preparing the site Health and Safety plan.
- Ensuring that all safety actions are resolved and effectively managed.
- Managing operational routines and reporting requirements to comply with current H & S & Environmental legislation.

SkillsRequired |
- HNC plus significant experience, in general operations principles.
- Ability to decide on overall priorities and takes actions accordingly to meet the site objectives.
- Excellent leadership and coaching qualities.
- NEBOSH qualified; clear knowledge of safety management.
- Attainment of SAP status.
- Competent to enact the role of incident controller.
- Competent in hazard identification, risk assessment and management of risks.
- Excellent understanding of commercial effects of plant operation.
- Able to make own management and technical decisions.
- Able to build professional relationships with our internal and external partners.
- An understanding of operational practise and procedures and, as such, can recognise and diagnose problems and make decisions which are unprecedented.
